a resolution and monica gellar closets.
it was bound to happen. after three separate christmases and 9 days in NC, our house turned into a full blown disaster area overnight. at one point during the unpacking process i got so overwhelmed that i took everything the kids owned, tossed it in their room and shut the door. for once i figured out of sight, out of mind, right?? stuff was EVERYWHERE. i woke up on new year’s day stressed...

i love blogging. i love the people i’ve met through blogging. i love the way my life has changed due to all that i’ve learned from my blogger-turned-IRL friends… but for a while now i’ve accepted that this blog isn’t going anywhere. it will never be anything other than (poor grammar) ramblings, lots of exclamation points & picture-posting while talking about...

FAQ's.
dear readers,
i’ll be the first to admit that i am terrible at replying to messages. i let them build up for so long that i finally just avoided them all together. in an effort to be a more hands-on blogger, this is my first attempt at answering some of the most asked questions in my inbox.
moving forward, i promise to respond to each one of your messages/emails/comments either by blog...
life in delaware. HOME.
(purchased at our neighborhood yard sale a few weeks back, hangs above the tv in our living room)
a home is often defined as a place where one lives; a residence.
our home is so much more than that.
my favorite definition of home and the one we use a lot more often in our household is “the place where something is discovered, founded, developed, or promoted”.
since moving from...
30 weeks update/our weekend (in bad cell phone...
i hit 30 weeks on saturday. i’ve been terrible about documenting this pregnancy… i’m so uncomfortable with other people taking pictures of me that my weekly belly photos have been reduced to blurry camera phone snapshots in our bathroom.
i know i’ve mentioned it before, but my nurse manager has been on medical leave for the past 2 months and i’ve been playing boss...
life in delaware.
i can’t believe how quickly the summer days are flying by! it seems like everyone we know is go-go-go this year, more so than usual. the carmines are no exception.
we recently returned home relaxed and recharged after two much-needed trips in july- rehoboth beach, DE with andy’s side of the family, then NC to visit my mom and dad (very low-key, i didn’t even take pictures).

my bean. our bean. beaners. green bean. beanie weenie. franks and beans. beanie baby.
you are such a little nugget. LOOK AT YOU!!! i often stare at you in disbelief that you belong to us, and that we belong to you. i spend every day holding myself back...

life in delaware.
on our way home from NC last weekend, madeline and i kidnapped my mom and brought her back to delaware with us. my MIL (who cares for madeline on the days that i work) went out of town, so my mom volunteered to stay with us and spend some time with mads. my nurse manager is on a 3 month leave of absence, so i’m working in her place these days, which means a lot more hours away from home....
father's day weekend
father’s day weekend was bittersweet. i was originally supposed to go to charleston for a girls weekend, but when my plans fell through, madeline and i flew to NC for a couple of days while andy stayed behind with work obligations. i was really bummed that i couldn’t see my tumblr girls, but excited to spend a few days at home.
at 16 months old, madeline cannot be tamed. she wants...

sea isle, new jersey
this is chappie, andy’s oldest friend (30 yrs!). chappie has a phd in chemistry and recently accepted a job in boston, which means that chap and (his wife) aubrey will be moving to massachusetts in little over a month. we wanted to spend some quality time with them before they left, so we headed to their family beach house in sea isle for a couple of days.
andy...

hagley fireworks
christmas aside, fireworks at hagley is my absolute favorite night of the year. hagley fireworks has been a long-standing tradition in the carmine family, and i’ve been lucky enough to join in on the fun since we moved to philadelphia in 2004.
madeline likes to ‘pull her weight’… hahaa in this case, her weight x’s 10! similar to her...

the enchanted woods @ winterthur
wednesday was a really good day. after 6 omgsoooolongpoorme days of work, i had the day off, so jess and i took the little ones to winterthur garden & museum to visit the enchanted woods.
we opted to walk instead of riding the tram through the gardens. even though it was hot outside, the paths were shaded and jess and i wanted the exercise. we strolled...

the wilmington greek festival
thursday night. leave it to us to choose the hottest day of the week to meet up with friends at an outdoor greek festival. there were 12 of us total… some drove in from philadelphia, some from new jersey… it was fun to catch up over plates full of spanokopita, lamb and orzo, souvlaki, pastichio, mousaka, dolmades, rice pudding, greek salad… i...
random wednesday post
these past 2 days have been so busy that i couldn’t find time to post about last weekend. mom texted me last night though, asking for her DDOM (daily dose of madeline) after bean was already asleep, so i promised her i’d post a few pictures this morning. these are for you, mom!
before we gets to the madeline cuteness, i wanted to share with you some really awesome products i came...
one of my most favorite necklaces ever.
sarahspelledwithanh:
My go to necklace and one of my only creations that I’ve ever kept for my own jewelry box….
The one that I get the most emails asking for….
The only 1930’s flower brooch that I’ve ever found duplicates of…
The one that two of my favorites set their sights on & thankfully I was able to scour the vintage world to find 2 of….

memorial day weekend- in pictures
what a weekend!!
i can’t remember the last time i had so much fun just hanging around the house. it was the perfect combination of productivity and play- we got a lot accomplished around here and we’re both really excited with the way the house is shaping up.
as usual, i took a ton of pictures…

baby carmine 2.0 gender reveal
last week was the world series of ultrasounds.
((i get them every 3-4 weeks))
last week was the ultrasound that revealed the sex of baby 2.0.
because we made such a fuss about finding out the gender during our first pregnancy, it was important to us to do the same for our second child. this meant that once again, we would have the results sealed and wait to...

this blog post has been a long time coming. 2 yrs, to be exact. it’s been 2 yrs since we moved to delaware. 2 years longer than i ever expected to be here.
you see, delaware was never in ‘the plan’… the master plan… what andy and i always refer to as the big picture. ‘the plan’ was always: go to philadelphia. do the law...

easter.
easter was bittersweet. mom and dad came to visit and help us pack up the old house and do some work on the new house, madeline participated in her very first easter egg hunt (omg ADORABLE), my in-laws had the whole family over for a delicious easter brunch… but it was also the last few days in our house on lincoln street, the house that madeline was born in.
truth be told, i...

the last week of march/first week of april came fast and furious and brought with it the most (combined) devastating news that we have received in years. at one point that week, i found myself on the floor in our living room (by myself while madeline was napping and andy at work), crying and laughing simultaneously and wondering how in the world i was going to pull myself and my family out of this...

not much to say in this post, just a handful of pictures that i adore & want to add to the blog… or as one of my favorite mommy bloggers likes to call it “my modern day baby book”. [did you know that you can save your individual blog posts to an archive on your computer automatically via tumblr and turn into a book? oh, yeah.]

halfway through our NC trip from hell, bean and i were feeling well enough to drop by chapel hill for some face time with cori and my blake baby. we were so busy chatting that i only took a few photos… i love this one of the girls together, our future soccer stars (cori played soccer her whole life, including the collegiate level):
as i mentioned in the previous post, the original plan...

back in late february (aka forever ago), my dearest cori, her husband robert, and their daughter blake gifted madeline with a photo shoot with the talented megan kime for her 1st birthday. ((coolest birthday gift ever, right?!?!))
since megan is based out of NC, we scheduled the session for the week we were in town for madeline’s NC 1st birthday party. it was supposed to be a big week for...

hi, all! HI! [frantic hand waves, big smiles, HUGS] so much to catch up on here @ tupelo honey!!!

[the blog, not the life. tupelo honey is definitely a lifestyle.]
i’m back.
for now.
until life pulls me away and i break again.
