ever since i can remember, i’ve been a dancer.
i took tap, ballet, and jazz for years and years and years.
and when i got tired of dance classes and recitals with hideous costumes and outrageous makeup, i took up cheerleading in HS so i could dance and watch sports at the same time (win/win).
in college, i got hired by a company to go around to new nightclubs to dance in order to get other people on the dance floor. [very PG, tons of fun]
andy fell in love with me the night we met at a concert, where i made him dance with me in the pouring rain. at our wedding, i didn’t leave the dance floor the whole night. [come to think of it, not many people did]
i dance in the shower. i dance on the treadmill at the gym. instead of rocking my child to sleep, we slow dance to classical music. i dance at work, i dance while i cook, i dance in the car. i dance just to dance, and then i dance some more.
needless to say, dancing is my life. i would be just a shell of myself without music and movement. my love and passion for dancing comes from my mom, and my dancing skills were inherited from my dad. to say madeline “gets it honestly” would be a major understatement.
i have never seen a child dance so much in my life. she has a crazycrazycrazy ear for music, it’s almost freaky. sometimes we don’t even realize music is playing until we see bean bobbin’ her head to the rhythm. she will be in the middle of playing, eating, reading a book, and she’ll hear a beat- on a commercial, someone’s ring tone, IN THE CARS THAT PASS BY OUTSIDE OUR HOUSE- and she’ll drop whatever it is that she’s doing to dance. she seriously throws my heart into a tailspin.
i put together a little video of bean shakin’ her groove thaaaang to share with you. the quality is terrible, most of the videos were taken on cell phones… they’re a little shaky and off-center because if madeline sees a cell phone, she will take it out of your hand in an instant, so we had to hide the fact that we were taping her.
i hope you enjoy watching it as much as i enjoyed putting it together.
we’re off to the doctor this morning to go hear the baby’s heart beat… our most favorite rhythm of all.
happy wednesday, tumblr loves.
