memorial day weekend- in pictures
what a weekend!!
i can’t remember the last time i had so much fun just hanging around the house. it was the perfect combination of productivity and play- we got a lot accomplished around here and we’re both really excited with the way the house is shaping up.
as usual, i took a ton of pictures…

(breakfast on the porch- whole wheat pancakes with fresh strawberries)
we live in an upside-down house and our living area (LR, DR, kitchen, etc.) is on the second floor. we have a porch off the dining room and because we’re elevated, we get the most amazing cross-breeze when the windows/doors are open. we took full advantage of the perfect weather this past weekend and ate as many meals as possible outside.

i’m happy to report that my rose bushes are still blooming! the one above is my favorite so far. we did a lot of gardening on saturday- we planted tomatoes, green peppers, jalapenos, strawberries, and lavender (one of my most favorite smells). we’ve also managed to keep our english garden alive so far, so we deserve a huge high-five for that.

once the temperature started to rise and we were all a bit uncomfortable, we took a break from landscaping the backyard and set up mads cheap little $7 swimming pool (which is why it won’t inflate all the way) and splashed around a bit to cool off.

madeline managed to turn pool time into a dance party… such a cutie, that one.

mommy/madeline nose kisses are the best.

as mentioned in my previous post, we took a trip to the delaware shore to spend some time with the family. madeline seriously can’t get enough of the new beach chair we picked up for her at the local five and dime. she sits in it on the beach, on our front porch, in the backyard, in her tent, in the living room, in the playroom… she’s had it less than 24 hrs and won’t stop dragging it behind her wherever she goes!

quiet time, watching sid the science kid… hanging out in her favorite spot in her new favorite chair.

playing with ‘puppy dog’ (lady).

we also had the family over for a cookout on monday afternoon. andy made burgers that we’ve been dying to test out since we saw them on “diners, drive-in’s, and dives”… they were soooooo delicious, i devoured mine in 2 minutes flat.

our memorial day menu: burgers, hot dogs, corn on the cob, pasta salad, THE BEST FIELD GREENS SALAD EVERRRRRRRR!, fruit salad, and cupcakes that my sister-in-law made with strawberries and blueberries. so yummy… i’m full just thinking about everything i ate.

whether you partied it up, relaxed, went out of town or had a lovely weekend at home, i hope you all had a great 3 day weekend as well!
