the enchanted woods @ winterthur
wednesday was a really good day. after 6 omgsoooolongpoorme days of work, i had the day off, so jess and i took the little ones to winterthur garden & museum to visit the enchanted woods.

we opted to walk instead of riding the tram through the gardens. even though it was hot outside, the paths were shaded and jess and i wanted the exercise. we strolled through the peony garden, azalea woods, and the sundial garden before approaching this sweet little enchanted village for children.

the fairy cottage

the fairy ring. upon entering the circle of mushrooms, a mist rises from the base of each stool. such a fun way to cool off!

not gonna lie, after pushing 2 strollers uphill through the gardens, jess and i were more than happy to play in the water too.

eventually, we went into the museum (air conditioning!) to the touch-it room, where kids of all ages are encouraged to learn about early american life. they have a pint-sized colonial kitchen, a 1750’s parlor, and a general store from the 1830’s. madeline really enjoyed the toy station with the baskets full of old wooden toys and handmade dolls.

we soon headed home for nap time, and jess and sophia drove back to PA. i had to throw the above picture in with the rest of the bunch… andy came home shortly after and surprised us with treats… a hardback & a handwritten love note for me, a new spot book for madeline. she made him read it to her at least 10 times before dinner! so adorable.
