weekend shenanigans
sea isle, new jersey

this is chappie, andy’s oldest friend (30 yrs!). chappie has a phd in chemistry and recently accepted a job in boston, which means that chap and (his wife) aubrey will be moving to massachusetts in little over a month. we wanted to spend some quality time with them before they left, so we headed to their family beach house in sea isle for a couple of days.

andy and i are so excited for their new opportunity/adventure! we spent the majority of the weekend carrying on about how much we adore boston and reminding them that as soon as they’re settled in, we’re coming up to visit.

beanie and her big girl chair. she hasn’t realized it yet, but we left her chair at the beach house. :(

cori and kate, this photo set is for the two of you.
this will be the only time you will see madeline wearing carolina ANYTHING, unless she attends UNC. because we’re such die-hard wolfpack fans, people constantly ask andy and i how we would feel if madeline went to UNC. the obvious answer is that we will be proud and supportive, but the idea of a ferris/carmine ever being a tarheel is just.too.much for my heart to handle.

i’m currently pouting- i just realized that i don’t have one picture of aubrey from the trip.

BEAN!!!! our little sous chef. we put together a delicious dinner- bone-on bbq chicken breasts, grilled squash, zucchini, mushrooms, and onions, corn on the cob, and caprese salad. we also had key lime pie for dessert, which i managed to eat half of. i’m not exaggerating… not half a piece, half the pie. pregnancy FAIL.
i went to bed saturday night with a (very) full belly, a full heart.
i also went to bed before everyone else. madeline heard me come into the bedroom around 11… her head popped up out of the pack-n-play with those adorable “hi, mom” eyes, i couldn’t resist snatching her up to snuggle with me. letting her sleep with us was a bad idea from the start, it always is… she never sleeps well, andy and i don’t sleep well. needless to say, it was a restless night and madeline decided to wake up for good around 5:45 am. there was only one thing that could make this kind of morning better, so andy drove us to dock mike’s pancake house for breakfast. madeline would like one of everything, please…

we headed back to wilmington on sunday with enough time to clean the house, grocery shop for the week, do laundry, grill out, and relax a little before the work week cranked back up.
oh, one last thing. madeline felt charlie kick multiple times this weekend. she obviously doesn’t understand what the actual movements mean, but she is well aware of them and reacts every time she feels even the slightest bit of movement from my belly. i have no words for moments like these… all i can say is that they are absolutely priceless.
